To explore what we say in tough conversations we have to get past resistance, which is reduced or increased by whether there are working relationships or not. Building such relationships can make it easier to say tough things.
An interactive on-line workshop to support professionals during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond

Target Group: Groups 3 - 5 Members of the workforce who work predominantly with children, young people and/or their parents/carers and who could potentially contribute to assessing, planning, intervening and reviewing the needs of a child and parenting capacity where there are safeguarding concerns
Aims & Objectives: By the end of this on-line workshop the participants will have:

- Developed skills and approaches in effective communication with parents/carers where abuse is/may be an issue;
- Learned some practical and effective techniques to conduct and manage difficult conversations;
- Developed their confidence in initiating conversations around sensitive topics or in raising concerns with parents/carers;
- Increased understanding of how to challenge parents/carers effectively and respectfully.
