Understanding Analysis and Professional Curiosity in Reference to a Local Child Sexual Abuse Review

An on-line workshop to examine informed approaches when working with young people and how to differentiate between harmful sexual behaviour (HSB), child sexual exploitation (CSE) and child sexual abuse (CSA). 

Before applying for this workshop, please note the following conditions:

There will be a lunch break & comfort stops, spaced evenly during the session 

Aims & Objectives:  Participants on this Part- day workshop will be: 

  • Exploring what is professional curiosity, how to exercise it and what can hinder this practice;
  • Understanding the role of systems theory and trauma informed approaches when working with children and young people;
  • Examine the differences and similarities between child sexual abuse, sexually harmful behaviours and child sexual exploitation;
  • Exploring analysis in practice and some of the tools that can assist;
  • Examining the role of case recordings to help understand a child’s situation.
  • Examining the role of supervision within the analysis process.

Target Group: Groups 3 - 5  Members of the workforce who work predominantly with children, young people and/or their parents/carers and who could potentially contribute to assessing, planning, intervening and reviewing the needs of a child and parenting capacity where there are safeguarding concerns
