To provide an overview of and raise awareness about the issue of child sexual exploitation, & trafficking, how to recognise this and how to develop effective intervention strategies to reduce risk and harm.
To develop knowledge and skills in working with victims of both sexual exploitation & child sexual trafficking

Target Audience: Groups 2-4 Those in regular contact or have a period of intense but irregular contact, with children, young people and/or parents/carers including all health clinical staff, who may be in a position to identify concerns about maltreatment. Members of the workforce who work predominantly with children, young people and/or their parents/carers and who could potentially contribute to assessing, planning, intervening and reviewing the needs of a child and parenting capacity where there are safeguarding concerns. Members of the workforce who have particular responsibilities in relation to undertaking section 47 enquiries, including professionals from health, education, police and children’s social care; those who work with complex cases and social work staff responsible for co-ordinating assessments of children in need.
Aims & Objectives: By the end of this 3 Hour Webinar session participants will have:
- Have a clear definition of sexual exploitation & trafficking
- Receive an overview of current legislation, messages from research and procedures with regards to sexual exploitation & trafficking
- Understand the stages and behaviours associated with the grooming process and different types of exploitation
- Develop the ability to identify the key risk indicators and vulnerability factors
- Gain insight into the impact on the child of being sexually exploited or trafficked
- Have increased confidence in working with victims of sexual exploitation or trafficking
There will be 2 short comfort breaks within the session to allow everyone to move around etc
