Supervision Skills for Safeguarding Supervisors
The overall aim of the training to establish good practice in supervision and give clarity and understanding to the requirement of delivering effective and competent supervision in order to make safe decisions for children and young people
Target group: Groups 5-6 Professional advisors, named and designated lead professionals, Operational managers at all levels including: practice supervisors; front line managers and managers of child protection units.
Aims & Objectives: By the end of this one day course participants will be able to:
- Have developed a structure for effective supervision and tools for managing the work, including the use of supervision agreements
- Be given the opportunity to promote the reflective and analytic process of supervision and to develop these skills in the supervisee
- Be given the opportunity to think through anti-oppressive practice in supervision and considering how equality issues affect the supervision process and impact on relationships in supervision
- Reflect on managing practice and to use the supervision process to inform safe decision making
- Be given the opportunity to use live material and participants own experiences as a supervisor to facilitate learning
