Promoting Positive Parenting Level 1: Building Cooperative Behaviour in Children
This one day Level 1 workshop aims to introduce or refresh ideas for workers in order to support parents / carers to support their children to learn to behave in cooperative ways, so that they enjoy childhood and improve their relationships with adults, friends and siblings. We will also consider the effects of parental stress and how parents / carers can take better care of themselves.
Target Group: Groups 3 - 5 Members of the workforce who work predominantly with children, young people and/or their parents/carers and who could potentially contribute to assessing, planning, intervening and reviewing the needs of a child and parenting capacity where there are safeguarding concerns
Aims & Objectives: Using a mix of teaching, role play, video clips and discussion, we will look at
- What is positive parenting?
- Parenting styles and children’s temperaments;
- The Parenting Pyramid;
- Building co-operative behaviour – the tools of play, effective praise and rewards;
- Managing parental stress and role-modelling the behaviour we want to see.
A comprehensive reading list and handouts will be provided at the end of the session
Promoting Positive Parenting Level 1, 2 & 3 is a series of learning events which aims to introduce or refresh ideas for workers in order to support parents / carers to support their children to learn to behave in cooperative ways.
