Assessing Neglect

To develop knowledge and skills in assessing neglect and making appropriate referrals to Children’s Services

Target Group: Groups 3 - 5  Members of the workforce who work predominantly with children, young people and/or their parents/carers and who could potentially contribute to assessing, planning, intervening and reviewing the needs of a child and parenting capacity where there are safeguarding concerns

Aims & Objectives: By the end of this one day course the participants will have: 

  • An understanding of neglect  within the context of significant harm
  • An understanding of how to evidence neglect to facilitate an effective referral to Children’s Services
  • An increased understanding of the damaging effects of neglect on children’s development and the importance of timely intervention.
