Modern Slavery Awareness (children focused)
- This training aims to develop participants’ understanding and knowledge of modern slavery and human trafficking in relation to safeguarding children.
- Participants should expect to gain a clear understanding of Royal Greenwich’s statutory duty to notify the Home Office of cases of modern slavery and human trafficking and will learn how to carry out this process effectively.
Aims & Objectives: By the end of this 1/2 day face to Face Classroom Session the participants will have:
- Local and global picture of modern slavery and human trafficking.
- Legalisation surrounding modern slavery and human trafficking and how this is applied in a local context.
- Indicators and spotting the signs of human trafficking and modern slavery.
- Modern Slavery and County Lines.
- The National Referral Mechanism and Royal Greenwich’s statutory duty on notifying the Home Office.
- How to respond sensitively and appropriately to disclosures.
- Local agencies, referral routes and signposting.
Target Group: Groups 1 - 5 All members of the workforce who work predominantly with children, young people and/or their parents/carers and who could potentially contribute to assessing, planning, intervening and reviewing the needs of a child and parenting capacity where there are safeguarding concerns
