Domestic Abuse and Safeguarding Children Training

Aim
• The aims of this training is to develop and enhance participants’ understanding of domestic abuse and its impact on children and parents
• To ensure recognition of domestic abuse and its links to child protection.
• To increase knowledge and awareness of Coercive Control as a form of domestic abuse
• To increase participants’ knowledge of the legalities surrounding domestic abuse, including legal definitions and civil and criminal actions that can be taken
• Build on skills needed to identify victims, respond to disclosures, and take appropriate action
• To understand barriers to disclosure and give participants the confidence needed to have conversations about domestic abuse
• To provide knowledge of support resources available in Greenwich
The training does not cover MARAC processes (including the Safe Lives Risk Assessment) as a further half day MARAC training package is available.
