Reflective Practice and Analytical Thinking in Child Protection

Safeguarding children involves managing complexity, ambiguity and uncertainty. This course seeks to promote reflective and analytical thinking in child protection work, providing both conceptual and theoretical frameworks for decision making as well as practical tools that can be used in practice

Aims & Objectives: By the end of this one day On-line workshop participants will have:

  • Understood he meaning of reflective practice on contemporary care services
  • Explored the implications for practitioners of the wider policy context of children’s services with particular reference to the Munro Review and research form serious case reviews
  • Considered the role and importance of reflective practice in both promoting professional resilience and high practice standards in challenging times
  • Discussed strategies for promoting critical reflection in practice  and overcoming barriers to learning and reflection
  • Familiarised themselves with tools that can be used to promote reflection

Target Group: Groups 3 - 5 Members of the workforce who have particular responsibilities in relation to undertaking section 47 enquiries, including professionals from health, education, police and children’s social care; those who work with complex cases and social work staff responsible for co-ordinating assessments of children in need. Professional advisors, named and designated lead professionals.
