Modern Slavery Awareness Training (½ Day)

This training aims to develop participants’ understanding and knowledge of modern slavery and human trafficking.

Participants should expect to gain a clear understanding of Royal Greenwich’s statutory duty to notify the Home Office of cases of modern slavery and human trafficking and will learn how to carry out this process effectively

The course will cover:

  • Local and global picture of modern slavery and human trafficking
  • Legalisation surrounding modern slavery and human trafficking and how this is applied in a local context
  • Indicators and spotting the signs of human trafficking and modern slavery
  • Grooming of children for criminal or sexual exploitation
  • The National Referral Mechanism and Royal Greenwich’s statutory duty on notifying the Home Office
  • How to respond sensitively and appropriately to disclosures
  • Local agencies, referral routes and signposting
